It’s A Man’s World
With Father’s Day approaching, now is the time to think about how to honor the men in your lives. Celebrating fatherhood is the acknowledgment of the successes and challenges fathers endure. Society in general tends to put the major focus on Mother’s Day and the day for fathers seems to just come and go. Men need to be celebrated too; they are or were at some point the breadwinner and authority figure in the home. With the states now reopening, you may not have as many options for celebration as you may have had in the past, but great celebrations can happen at home too. Here are some great ways to have the same festive feel at home.
Indoor/Outdoor Picnic
Whether it’s just the immediate family or you are inviting people over (following the appropriate social distancing rules, of course), cooking dinner or lighting the grill is a great way to spend some quality time with the men in your life. Be sure to make their favorite side dishes and keep the cooler full of their beverage of choice.
Picture Collage
This priceless gift is something the entire family can contribute to. Ask family members and friends for copies of pictures old and new, get your poster board, scissors, and glue ready and start creating. The great thing about a picture collage is that it is not cookie-cutter, it can look however you want it to look. The gift is the look in his eyes as he takes a trip down memory lane, wondering how in the world you got your hands on some of those photos.
Pamper Day
Most men don’t take the time to pamper themselves the way a woman would; you seldom hear a man heading out to get a mani-pedi, but that doesn’t mean they don’t need it. Treat the fathers in your life to a spa day; whether it’s a message or a seaweed wrap, show them how good it feels to be spoiled for a day. You can get gift certificates in most places that offer these services or you can pamper him in the comforts of your own home.
Outdoor Movie Night
After an amazing meal and a day of relaxation, head out to the backyard for movie night. If you don’t have a projector, you can always rent one. Get your popcorn and candy ready! The movies could be all of his favorite movies or have made it “Father” themed, where all the movies include the words dad or father. This is a great way for the family to spend quality time with the ones they love.
